As the only Big West team to start its season over the weekend, the Hawaii men’s volleyball team collected all of the Big West Conference weekly awards announced today.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristian Titiryski was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week and junior Tread Rosenthal earned both the BWC Defensive Player of the Week and BWC Setter of the Week awards.

Another UH setter, Magnus Hettervik, was named the BWC Freshman of the Week.

Titriyski, who wins the award for the third time, was the only player to finish with double figures in kills in both matches against New Jersey Institute of Technology. He finished the two-match series averaging 3.83 kills per set on.439 hitting with five aces, five digs and six blocks.

Rosenthal’s two awards give him 13 for his career after he led UH with 11 blocks, including a career-high tying eight in the opener on Friday.

He directed UH’s offense to a.517 hitting percentage in the series with only 11 hitting errors in 118 attempts.

Hettervik, who played in two sets on Sunday, served an ace during his first serving run and had three assists while playing on the floor for Hawaii’s final four points to close out the win.

The second-ranked Rainbow Warriors face their first top-10 challenge on Thursday and Friday when they host No. 7 Loyola Chicago at 7 p.m.
