17th annual DWU Culver's Classic basketball games set for Feb. 13-14 at Corn Palace

Jan. 6—MITCHELL — The 17th edition of the Dakota Wesleyan University Culver's Classic basketball games will take place on Feb. 13-14 at the Corn Palace, with 18 total games played over two days.

In the most recent South Dakota Prep Media Poll rankings released on Jan. 5, seven girls teams are ranked in the top-10 in either Class A or Class B, while nine ranked boys teams are on the schedule.

Three No. 1-ranked teams in Class A and Class B are in the event, including Sioux Falls Christian girls in Class A, and Sioux Falls Christian and Viborg-Hurley in the boys event. Bennett County, the state champion in Class B girls basketball from 2025, is also in the event.

In the girls classic, action will tip off at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, with Freeman and Gettysburg, followed by Kadoka Area vs. Bridgewater-Emery at 10:30 a.m. and Flandreau and Florence/Henry at noon. At 1:30 p.m., Lemmon and Wall will face off, and at 3 p.m., St. Thomas More will take on Clark/Willow Lake.

The girls matchups close with four matchups featuring at least one ranked team. At 4:30 p.m., Class A No. 3 Hamlin will face No. 6 Sioux Falls Christian, and at 6 p.m., Class B No. 10 Corsica-Stickney takes on Dell Rapids St. Mary, followed by No. 2 Lyman vs. No. 3 Parkston at 7:30 p.m. No. 4 Bennett County will take on No. 5 Ethan at 9 p.m.

The boys matchups on Feb. 14 begin with Gregory taking on Howard at 9 a.m., followed by McCook Central/Montrose against Class A No. 8 Hamlin at 10:30 a.m. Pine Ridge will take on Rapid City Christian at noon, followed by Class B No. 6 Aberdeen Christian against Dell Rapids St. Mary at 1:30 p.m.

The games continue at 3 p.m. with White River against Bridgewater-Emery, followed by Class B No. 7 Wall against No. 9 Freeman at 4:30 p.m. A high-profile Class A matchup takes place at 6 p.m. with No. 1-ranked Sioux Falls Christian facing No. 4 St. Thomas More. Class B matchups wrap up the classic with No. 1 Viborg-Hurley taking on No. 6 Wessington Springs at 7:30 p.m., and Ethan will face No. 8 Parkston at 9 p.m.
