There was some movement upward, albeit slight, for Section V teams in this week's New York state girls basketball rankings.
No classification was more populated than Class C, which features six ranked teams and four others that are included as honorable mentions.

Biggest riser: Despite only playing two games through this week's edition, Waterloo jumped two spots in Class B with consecutive wins to open the season. The Tigers have since split their two games in the Great Livonia Shootout tournament.
Biggest faller: After losing its first game of the season on Dec. 27, Lyons dropped eight spots in the Class C rankings.
